Trying Something New

Okay, so I am making a first attempt at uploading video to the blog, as MP2 is making his first attempts at getting around. I just hope that no one keeps moving my target the way I keep moving MP2's when I am filming him!

That said, he has really come so far in the crawling department over the last 10 days since we first noticed he was really getting actual forward motion. It's so fun to see him see something and go for it (except when that something is an electrical outlet, or wine rack, or book shelf - we have a lot of childproofing to learn and do!!!).

I will not say that MP2 exhibits textbook crawling form, but he sure can get wherever he needs to go in a hurry.

Viva NashVegas!

The best way to start off a trip to Nashville is with some love from Gary! MP2 made an appearance at lunch before heading off with MP for some father/son bonding, leaving Gary, Amy and I to do some bonding of our own over a nice long meal at Sunset Grill.

For all the time we spend at home in CoMO, we make up for it by staying on the go once we are in Nashville. But it's easy to get out and about when you have someone always vying for a chance to occupy MP2!

First, Papa...

...then, Nana.

...and before you know it, dinner's over and it is time to go home. (I am sure MP2 was glad, since it was a pretty late evening for him.)
It's also great being at Nana and Papa's since they took over monitoring the baby monitor, and hung out with MP2 when he woke up, letting MP and I sleep in a little bit (since when is sleeping in 8am??? but I'll take it!)

On Saturday morning, MP ran the Tom King Half Marathon. In a feat of coordination (and speeding down Shelby Ave), we were able to see MP at mile 2, again at mile 11 (mind you as he ran those 9 miles, I ran like two and a half....so sad), and in time for the finish. Love an out and back race!
Here we are waiting for MP to arrive.

MP wanted to high five MP2. Despite multiple cameras going attempting to get it on film, we missed it - and only as I write this blog post am I thinking why didn't we just shoot video? Oh well, I am pretty sure there will be another race :)
You can see MP's hand on the left as he speeds by us.

...and comes in for a strong finish.

MP2, someday you will have to earn these medals yourself. You can't be taking them from MP forever!

Just hanging out on the couch on a Saturday afternoon.

Saturday was such a beautiful day that we headed out to Centennial Park. It was MP2's first time to visit the playground. He loved swinging

First time on the slide!

Perhaps I should not go from workout to family photo op...but oh well, the moments must be captured!

Spring is in the air walking around the pond.

Much fun was had by all

Getting Nowhere Fast

An ode to lack of motion...

Getting up on all fours is old hat. Then, as he's trying to reach for the toy that MP placed just out of reach, instead of getting closer, he's getting further away - and we all realize....he's moving backwards!

Otherwise, he just rocks back and forth until he gets the momentum to lunge.

Rolling will get him there when crawling won't do the trick.

...and I realize that as he becomes mobile, life is going to be fraught with dangers. If there is a sharp corner, or tiny shard of paper/plastic/dog hair/what-have-you. MP2 can suddenly move like greased lightening. It's an amazing thing to see.

I think MP said about six weeks ago that MP2 would be crawling within a week. He is a tricky little guy - it looks like it is so close...but hopefully it is still far away (we still have to childproof!)

Behind the Curve

Man, where does the time go? Never enough hours in the day to keep up with the blog. It seems like the weeks whiz by in a blur and before I know it, it's time to flip the calendar page. Luckily, we're headed toward warmer weather, and a summer back in Nashville. But, I digress.

About three weeks ago, Nana and Papa made their monthly voyage to CoMO, and we had a very relaxed and fun weekend hanging around the house. They arrived late on Friday night, but first thing on Saturday morning it was time for some MP2 playtime.

...and lots of hugs (don't squeeze too hard, Nana!)

On Sunday morning, we headed to our new favorite brunch at Broadway Brewery. I think that was pretty much our only outing of the weekend - I was just glad they had Bloody Marys (not to mention that it was Nana + Papa's treat)!

It was warm enough that we were able to get some swing time in. I can tell this is going to be a great way to pass the time (and for me to get some internet time) as the spring comes along.

More hugging from Nana. MP2 can never get too much of that.

It was a great weekend. I am thankful to have them close enough to make the frequent visits. We love to see them!

Kiss Me! I'm [a teensy bit] Irish...

Happy St. Patty's Day from MP2

Imagination Library

We love being able to participate in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library . I am glad I knew it existed, and that it's offered here in CoMO. Already, we watch for each month's book to be delivered. As you can see, MP2 loves to read, and getting a new book for him every month is a pretty fantastic program for which we are really thankful.

Not long now...

Thank goodness spring is right around the corner. We're all going a little stir crazy in the house, but we know it's not long now. Nearly every week, we can at least get out for a walk with friends or a run on the trail near our house.

In the meantime, MP2 is almost eight months old (!!!). Crazy. Where does the time go??

He's not crawling (yet), but he's close - and into everything. Man, you've got to watch these babies all the time!

We've tried finger foods over purees a few times, and he still prefers the latter, but you put a banana piece in a mesh bag, and he will go to town!

Franma sent us a great valentines day bib. Love the Franma, and can't wait to see her hopefully in just a few weeks!!

MP2's New Toy

Okay, I admit it. I have this total sense of pride when I know MP2 is going to love something, and when I get it home, he.does.love.it. Case in point:

I mean, I ordered this thing like last fall when he was only a couple months old, and I knew come spring we'd be all over it.
