Time Flies When You're....

....having fun, or so the saying goes. We've definitely been having fun, but the lack of blog posts can be blamed on one, and only one change in our lives. WORK! Whew, I seriously have a new appreciation for all working families. This is craziness. I feel fortunate that I am able to start back only on a 50% work schedule, and that between MP and I, we are able to keep MP2 home with us a little longer. This does result in a series of handoffs MP to me in the mornings so he can head off to class after saying good morning to MP2, then me to MP so that I can get to work in the afternoons. While nuts, I am starting to feel like I can see a future of being able to handle this whole thing. Maybe even sans tears for a week or two at a time!

Since we've been MIA, we have not been lacking in the action department. Not by any means at all!

Early November found us at MP2's 4mo checkup. He came into this world at 8lbs 6oz and 21 inches long and only 16 short weeks later, he weighed in at 15lbs 11oz and measured 25.5 inches. At this rate, he'll be a giant by his first birthday! Here we are at the doctor's office.

(yep, we asked her if the baby acne was ever going to fully disappear...)
We finally made it out with some friends to Coopers' Landing. This is a cool RV park/music venue/Thai food trailer (yep, a trailer) along the Missouri River. We had fun eating Thai overlooking the river on open mic night. If only you could imagine what an open mic brings out to a place like this!
Oh, then...the next week, MP2 and I took his first plane ride. We headed to Tulsa to see some friends. It was such a great trip, though soon after this picture, I learned that the BOB makes a better luggage cart than baby transportation. I am ever thankful for the kindness of strangers. No other way could we have gotten from car to ticket counter to security to plane to baggage to rental car without a million more hiccups than we had. Good thing MP2 is about the best traveler around. What a trooper that boy is. Goodness knows he didn't get his ability to roll with the punches from me!
Here's MP2 sitting on the counter at Robin's house. I can't believe how big he's getting.
Here he's chilling out with Robin. He loved her! He also loved her son, Benjamin...but I don't think Ben knew quite what to make of him.
Another shot of my big boy! Of course, right after this picture, he bucked right out of the chair and I barely caught him before he hit the hardwood floor!

Here he's chilling out with Amy on the morning before we departed. It was so great spending time with our friends and showing him off to everyone.
The next week, we had a playdate at Lend and Learn (actually two playdates, but only one immortalized on film). Here's MP2 with his BFF, Ethan. Ethan's got a few months on MP2, but they were still kind of interacting...you know, in a way only mom's would notice.

MP2 brings us more joy each day than the one before. I had no idea how fun this all was. Don't get me wrong, even fun brings some tears along the way, but going into the holiday season I find myself so so thankful for where MP and I are in our lives right now.

Next post will bring us up to date with Thanksgiving. No promises on when that will be though (unless I get really ambitious, it won't be during November!). Sure you are all on the edges of your seats!
